Roman Lopatynskyi was born in 1993 in Kiev and began playing the piano at the age of five. He studied at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kiev and with Boris Petrushansky at the International Piano Academy in Como. A winner of more than 20 national and international competitions - including Third Prize at the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bolzano in 2015, 2nd Prize, 9th Hamamatsu International Piano competition (2015),1st Prize, Gold Medal and special Prizes VIII International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz (2010), and 1st Prize and special prize “The Best Performer”, Tbilisi International Young Pianists' Competition (2009).

Lopatynskyi has been a guest of prestigious festivals and stages such as Ginza Hall in Tokyo, Mariinsky International Piano Festival in St. Petersburg and Newport Festival in the USA. As a soloist he regularly collaborates with the most important Ukrainian orchestras. Internationally, he has been a guest of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken or the Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, among others.
