String Quartet Magic in Geneva

Geneva quartet 2023 1st Prize

First Finals of the 2023 Geneva Competition

In a final full of magic and a very special atmosphere, the Concours de Genève intl. Music Competition once again showed an outstanding potential: three magnificent ensembles fascinated the audience, each one in its very own way. Quartet Hana, an international mix of students from Munich, performed an elegant and very polished 3rd Quartet in D Major by Mendelssohn. Almost on home ground, the Paris-based Quatuor Elmire then followed with a dramatic and very energetic Beethoven n°8 “Razumovsky”.

Last was the young NOVO Quartet, a group that found each other at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen five years ago. Both acoustically and visually the ensemble truly fascinated the audience with its joyful and charismatic rendition of Mendelssohn Quartet No. 2 in A minor, a work written by the 18 year old Mendelssohn after the death of Ludwig van Beethoven. Great emotions, and rapturous applause.
