Roberto de la Guía Martínez is a solo trombonist of the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra since 2022. He began as an 8-year-old in the class of Miguel Antonio Gonzalez Blesa at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Música y Danza de Albacete. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla-La Mancha and was an Erasmus exchange student at the Hochschule für für Musik Freiburg, where he was taught by Fabrice Millischer. For the academic year 2017/18 he won a scholarship to study at the Brass Academy Alicante. In 2020 he was awarded the "Special Prize" at the International Trombone Association IPV competition. After graduating in 2018, he played in the Spanish Military Wind Orchestra until 2021, as a guest he was invited to play in the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Spain and in the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, he also played in the Young German Philharmonic Orchestra. During the season 2021/22 he was a member of the Karajan-Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, where he worked with world-famous conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Adam Fischer or Oksana Lyniv.
