Thrilling finals at the Andorra SaxFest

Wataru Hirai wins the Solo Competition Final

The Andorra International Saxophone Competition presented numerous events around music and saxophone of course: after a number of exciting masterclasses with world-class teachers, six outstanding musicians performed at the Finals, with the Orchestra Nacional Classica de Andorra, directed by Vincent David. 

This year, as is customary, the final was highly competitive, showcasing the exceptional level of the participants. 25 years old saxophonist Wataru Hirai won the eleventh edition of the Solo Sax Competition. The second place went to Salvatore Alessandro Miceli, followed by Vladimir Petskus.

Apart of the prize money, the winners is offered a saxophone and piano recital at the Andorra Sax Fest 2026. He will also perform in a saxophone and organ recital during the Andorra International Organ Festival 2025 concert cycle and serve as a jury member for the 2026 Andorra International Youth Saxophonists Competition at the 2026 Andorra Sax Fest.

An original solo work was commissioned by the Andorra Sax Fest to Arnau Bataller. The six saxophonists also performed Rhizome by Vincent David at the finals.
