The last Percussion competition in Luxemburg took place from 16 to 24 July, 2022. It was open to percussion trios. The Jury, chaired by Paul Mootz, also President of the Competition, was enriched with great names of the percussive world: Béatrice Daudin, Alexandre Esperet, Arnold Marinissen, Allen Otte, Bart Quartier and Yi-Ping Yang.

This year’s competition hosted two world premieres: “Comme la rosée, aussi comme l’éclair” by Wenchi TSAI, the Prize-winning work of the 2nd IPCL Composition Competition and the final piece, “Organized”, composed by Georges Sadeler, for percussion trio and organ.

This edition presented a very interesting semi-final round, during which the selected competitors played a  sound-track for an animated 3 min short-film with improvised or existing music. The short film, called  “Vestiges”, was directed by Pia Nennig and Felicia Bremin.

The Kãna Trio won the special Prize for their performance on this particular presentation.

All performances were streamed on Youtube, live from the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.
