Omicron making life difficult for Jeju Brass Competition

Last Minute Quarantine mandates in South Korea cause havoc

After an initial postponement in 2020 and a further rearrangement of the competition in 2021- parts of it had to be held online due to new quarantine restrictions in South Korea- the Jeju International Brass Competition announced its winners on 12 December, in a concert with Kim Hongsik conducting the Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra. Featuring four disciplines (Horn, Trumpet, Tenor trombone and Brass Quintet), the sheer numbers of participants and jury are always impressive at this competition. But not only is this one of the very few professional brass competitions in the region, it is also the location on Korea´s famous southern island that always attracts a great number of musicians to come and take part.
