The Hong Kong International Piano Competition announces its winners

Six young pianists gathered on the 14th of October for the second part of the Finals, after a chamber music round, this time for the Piano Concerto with the official Orchestra of the Competition, under the baton of Christopher Warren-Green. The Jury awarded Alexander Doronin 1st Prize of the Competition. 

Alexander Doronin, performed a piece by Liu Wenjin, Sanmen Gorge Capriccio, accompanied by Shao Lin on the Erhu, which was a compulsory piece for all finalists. It was followed by a Piano Trio by Boris Tchaikovsky, with Andrew Haveron on Violin and Pierre Doumenge on Cello. He chose to play the Second Concerto by Sergei Prokofiev for the orchestra final. 

2nd Prize winner, Yungyung Guo, also performed the duo for Piano and Erhu, followed by Dvorak's Piano Quintet n°2, with Violinists Andrew Haveron and Michael Brooks Reid, Violist Joel Hunter and Cellist Pierre Doumenge. She played Schumann's Concerto in A Minor at the orchestra final. 

The Jury awarded 3rd Prize to Mikhail Kan who also performed the compulsory chamber music piece, as well as the Piano Trio n°2 by Dmitri Shostakovich.

The 7th Hong Kong International Piano Competition and Joy of Music Festival finished with three spectacular piano concertos played by three distinguished jury members Mikhail Voskresensky, Cyprien Katsaris and Eliso Virsaladze. The Competitions Orchestra was conducted by maestro Christopher Warren Green.
