The 60th Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition 2025 announces its Violin Winners

After three extensive and high-level selection rounds, this year's Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition for Violin reached its climax with the final on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The three finalists, Josephine Chung (26), Corina Deng (17) and Teofil Milenkovic (25), appeared before the international jury one last time and demonstrated their exceptional skills with Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major. The participants were accompanied by the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra Greiz/Reichenbach under the direction of Simon Edelmann.
After a jury deliberation, the result was announced at the end of the evening by the president Prof. Julius Berger.

First prize: Corina Deng (Canada, currently USA)
Second prize: Josephine Chung (Australia, currently Germany)
Third prize: Teofil Milenkovic (Serbia/Italy)

Corina Deng is currently studying with Ida Kavafian at the Curtis Institute of Music. At last year's International Tibor Varga Junior Violin Competition, she already won First prize as well as the Audience prize, Calma Management prize and Best Interpretation prize for the compulsory piece.  She made her orchestral debut at the age of eight and her first recital at the age of ten, and has performed with orchestras in Europe, the US and Canada.

The 2026 Markneukirchen International instrumental Competition will be held in the disciplines of Horn and Tuba.
