Great Violin Playing at the Hengqin Competition

Formerly in Zhuhai, the Hengqin International Mozart competition for young Musicians presented a splendid 2025 edition

The latest edition of the Hengqin International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians has drawn to a successful conclusion, with its final rounds hosted at the state-of-the-art Hengqin Cultural and Art Center in Zhuhai.

The competition's history reflects a journey of growth and strategic development. It was originally established under the name "Zhuhai International Mozart Competition," founded by Mozarteum University in Salzburg—the very institution dedicated to preserving Mozart's legacy in his birthplace.

In a significant move that underscores the region's cultural ambitions, the competition was recently rebranded as the Hengqin International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians. This name change aligns with the intensified development of the Hengqin island, a zone adjacent to Macau that is being positioned as a major hub for cultural and economic cooperation. The shift from "Zhuhai" to "Hengqin" signals a deeper integration into this new, high-profile development area while maintaining its core mission.

As always, the competition remains exclusive to the world's most promising young violinists and pianists, all of whom must be under the age of 23.
