End of a long Journey
The 2020 Seoul Competition Finals finally held in December 2021
The last WFIMC Competition in 2021, Seoul International Music Competition like many others had to struggle with changing quarantine restrictions in South Korea. Two weeks before the competition, quarantine exemptions were suspended and four among the six finalists had to quarantine for 10 days in order to take part.
The Seoul Music Competition is held annually for piano, violin, and voice, in a rotating sequence. This year marked the 6th piano competition, having been postponed from 2020. Among 138 applicants from 12 countries, six were selected who then underwent preliminary, first, second and semifinal rounds online in the beginning of 2020. Only the final round could be held live, albeit without audience. Out of 10 jury members, seven were not able to enter the country and had to take part online.
