20 Years of Resonance: Jeju International Brass Competition 2025

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the remarkable brass competition in Asia

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Jeju International Brass Competition has solidified its reputation as a premier event for wind musicians in Asia and beyond. The competition is a central highlight of the larger 30th Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival 2025, creating a month-long celebration of brass and wind music.

The event is held on the picturesque island of Jeju, South Korea, a location famously known as the "Island of the Wind." It is a fittingly poetic home for a festival dedicated to the power and breath of wind instruments.

The competition is dedicated to discovering and nurturing the world's most promising young wind players. It provides a unique platform for these talented individuals to compete at the highest level while fostering international friendship and cultural exchange through a shared love of music.

This year's event was particularly significant, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation. To mark this national milestone, the festival presented a special August 15th Liberation Day Concert, celebrating freedom and peace through music. The 2025 edition proved to be a record-breaking gathering, attracting approximately 4,900 musicians and enthusiasts from 12 countries to Jeju. Among them, 385 competitors from 18 nations spent ten days on the island, forging lasting bonds through their shared passion.

Running concurrently with the competition, the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival enriched the cultural landscape with a diverse program of performances by professional orchestras and amateur wind ensembles, offering a complete musical experience for participants and visitors alike.
