In 2014, she won 1st prize at the Music Competition Japan, is a laureate at the 2015 Sibelius International Violin Competition, received 3rd prize at the 2016 Concours musical international de Montréal and the 3rd Arion-Toho Music Award, the 7th Tokiko Iwatani Award Foundation for Youth and the Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant Award.

Born in Nara, a traditional ancient city, Minami began playing the violin at the age of five. After graduating from Toho Gakuen Music High School, she received the soloist diploma from Toho Gakuen College of Music as an honor student. She is currently studying at the New England Conservatory of Music with the Dean's Scholarship and in the Artist Diploma Program of the Tokyo College of Music as an Honorary Scholarship Student. She studies with Miriam Fried, Koichiro Harada, and Kyoko Takezawa, and learns duo and chamber music with Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, Nicholas Cords, and Merry Peckham, and has received scholarships from the Tan Family Education Foundation and the Ezoe Memorial Recruit Foundation.
