IO YAMADA has been proven by over twenty prominent international awards, including the first prize at the first prize in the 55th Concorso di Chitarra Classica "Michele Pittaluga", the first prize in the Nürtingen International Guitar Competition (Nürtingen, Germany) , the second prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of the obligatory piece in the Antony International Guitar Competition (Antony, France), the second prize in Iserlohn International Guitar Competition (Iserlohn, Germany), and the first prize in Premio Claudio De Angelis (Perugia, Italy).

He has studied with Naoki Yamada (his father) , Keigo Fujii, Tsuneo Ema, Kiyoshi Shomura and Gentaro Takada in Japan. After finishing his studies in Tokyo, Io was accepted to the “Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (MDW)” where he finished his first Diplom degree with Prof. Alvaro Pierri and since 2020 he has been studying at the ”Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar”. He completed his master’s degree there and currently continuing his study as a student of Konzertexamen with Ricardo Gallen and Thomas Müller-Pering.
