Founded in 1974 in Viña del Mar, Chile, the International Music Performance Competition Sigall has established itself as one of Latin America's most prestigious and enduring platforms for classical music. With a longstanding commitment to artistic excellence, the competition promotes and supports emerging musicians from around the world, fostering international exchange and the development of new generations of performers.

The competition rotates annually among five disciplines in the following order: voice, violin, piano, guitar, and cello. Through a rigorous international preselection process, outstanding young musicians are invited to Viña del Mar to participate in the semifinal and final rounds, performing before distinguished international juries.

One of the competition's defining characteristics is its commitment to creating a welcoming and enriching artistic experience. Beyond the competitive performances, participants engage with audiences, fellow musicians, and the local community through concerts, educational activities, and cultural exchanges.

The competition also promotes Chilean musical creation by incorporating works by Chilean composers into its repertoire, strengthening the connection between international performance and Chile's musical heritage. The participation of local audiences, including a public vote, further reinforces its close relationship with the city.

In October 2026, the competition celebrated its historic 50th edition, dedicated to voice, at the Municipal Theatre of Viña del Mar. Under the artistic direction of conductor Pedro-Pablo Prudencio, the competition continues to strengthen its international presence while preserving its commitment to artistic excellence, cultural exchange, and the promotion of emerging talent.

The 2027 edition will be dedicated to violin.
