Alexey Sychev is a laureate of more than 30 international piano competitions across four continents. He is the only pianist in the world who won First Prizes at three international Franz Liszt competitions.

In 2019, Alexey won First Prizes at the 11th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Parma, Italy,  at the International Piano Competition Tucuman in Argentina and at the Steinway Competition in Germany.

The same year, he was named the winner of the Pro Musicis International Award in Paris, France and became a Pro Musicis artist.

In 2018, he received Third Prize at the 11th Dublin International Piano Competition from the President of Ireland. Few months earlier, he became a laureate of Third Prize at the 64th Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona.

 In 2015, Alexey Sychev won the First Prize, the Audience Prize and a special prize for the Best Liszt Sonata Performance at the prestigious 8th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition Weimar-Bayreuth. The same year, he became a laureate of the 2nd prize at the 57th Jaen International Piano Competition (Spain). In 2014, he received the First Prize at the 41st International Musical Competition "Dr. Luis Sigall", Chile. He was the Third Prize and the Audience Prize winner at the 64th G.B. Viotti International Music Competition in 2013.

In 2012, Alexey received four first prizes – at the World Online Piano Competition, USA, International Piano Competition Massarosa, Italy, International Piano Competition of Princess Lalla Meryem, Morocco, and International Piano Competition "Ennio Porrino", Italy.

In 2009, he received the First Prize at the International Piano Competition “Premio Franz Liszt” under the chairmanship of Martha Argerich.

Alexey was awarded the German Academic Exchange scholarship (DAAD) and the Richard Wagner Society scholarship, as well as the scholarships from the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation and the Constantine Orbelian Foundation.

Alexey has given solo recitals in Austria, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Serbia, Switzerland, Israel, Morocco, Moldova, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Japan, and the USA. . He has performed with orchestras throughout Europe and America, including RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, Chilean National Symphony Orchestra, Portuguese Philharmonic, Gulbenkian Symphony Orchestra, Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, Orchestra Arturo Toscanini, Staatskapelle Weimar, Bergische Symphoniker and Staatskapelle Schwerin.  

Performance venues include the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Sala de Concerts of Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the National Concert Hall of Ireland, the Gulbenkian Hall in Lisbon, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, the Rudolfinum Hall in Prague, Sala Argentina in Buenos Aires and the National Congress of Chile. He has participated in various international festivals, including Salzburger Festspiele, Beethovenfest in Bonn, “Gina Bachauer” in the USA, “Semanas Musicales” in Chile, “Pianino” in Spain, and “Les Sommets du Classique” in Switzerland. He recorded his debut CD at Czech Radio.

His engagements for the season 2019-2020 include debut recitals at Musikverein in Vienna and at Salle Cortot in Paris.

Alexey Sychev began to study piano at age 7 and appeared as a soloist with a symphony orchestra at age 10, performing the First concerto of Beethoven. After the graduation from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Alexey studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Among his teachers are Arnulf von Arnim, Jacques Rouvier and Jan Jiracek von Arnim.
