The Jasha Heifez Competition is back in Vilnius

5 out of 6 violinists played the Sibelius concerto, delighting an audience of connoisseurs who were happy to be able to compare every stroke, every intention, and ultimately the musicality of the talented young violinists.

Under the benevolence of Jasha Heifetz, whose beautiful portrait dominated the orchestra, the six finalists of the Competition each in their own way offered their interpretation to the audience. The two final evenings featured the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and its conductor Modestas Pitrėnas.

A large audience came to hear five Sibelius Concertos played remarkably well by five of the talented finalists,  Rokas Diržys, Yuki Hirano, Jinzhu Li, Zofia Anna Olesik and Shaoheng Zhong. Bruch's Scottish Fantasy was magnificently interpreted by Chaeyeon Lee, whose sensitive and accomplished performance earned her 3rd prize.

The Jury's task was indeed difficult but at the end, Yuki Hirano's intense interpretation of Sibelius' masterpiece convinced them to award 1st Prize to the young violinist. She also won among other concert prizes, the special Prize for the best performance of Jasha Heifetz' transcription.
