Monza - Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition

Founded in 1947 by the Monza-born pianist Rina Sala Gallo together with Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, the Rina Sala Gallo - Monza International Piano Competition is an absolute benchmark among international music competitions, a member of the World Federation of Music Competitions and the Alink-Argerich Foundation. Pianists from all over the world gather in Monza to compete for a whole week in a series of solo rounds, culminating in a concert for piano and orchestra performed by the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano.

The philanthropic spirit that inspired the founders, Rina Sala Gallo and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, is renewed every year with commitment and passion: to support young, talented pianists in developing their careers as international concert artists.

Among the numerous winners are artists such as Angela Hewitt, Massimiliano Ferrati, Maria Perrotta, Anna Vinniskaya, Michael Lifits. Sofya Gulyak, Scipione Sangiovanni, Fiorenzo Pascalucci, Alexander Panfilov, Igor Andreev, Young Sun Choi, winner of the 2022 edition.
