Born in 2002, Song-Hyeon Kim started playing the piano when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Yewon School, which is the most renowned music school in Korea, and studied with Soo-Jung Shin, Prof. Emeritus of Seoul National University. In Korea, he rose to prominence by winning the grand prize unanimously at the 12th Shinhan Music Awards. He has also won the top prizes at the Korea Steinway Competition, Samick-Selier Piano Competition, and Ewha-Kyunghyang Competition. 

He made his official recital debut at the age of 13 through the Kumho Prodigy Concert and performed at Korea's representative concert halls such as Seoul Arts Center and Lotte Concert Hall. He performed with Eurasian Philharmonic Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Chuncheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gimpo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Incheon New Philharmonic Orchestra. 

He came to the world’s attention in 2017 when he won the prize of the 10th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. In 2018, he performed at Alice Tully Hall at the invitation of CMS of Lincoln Center. He has also won prizes at the Chicago International Music Competition and Ishikawa Music Awards. In 2022, he won the 5th prize and the audience prize at the 8th Sendai International Music Competition as the youngest finalist. Recently, he performed with the Borromeo String Quartet as the winner of BSQ Guest Artist Awards.
