It was their common passion for the string quartet repertoire that lead four highschool friends from Toulouse to form the Quatuor Varen in 2017. After studying together for one year with Philippe Lecocq, they split in order to pursue their own studies in Paris and Cologne, Germany. They would then meet in summer during a string quartet masterclass, or to prepare a few concerts. During the summer of 2022, they met Luc-Marie Aguera who offered them to study with him in Paris in his string quartet class. Seizing the opportunity to be reunited and study together again, they accepted his offer and joined his class at the CRR de Paris.
They were invited to play in many different festivals, from the Saison Bleue and Toulouse en Musique to Quatuors à Cordes en Pays de Fayence as well as Moments Musicaux de la Baie du Mont Saint-Michel. They also took part in various masterclasses and string quartet academies, including Cordes en Ballade with the Quatuor Debussy, Musique à Flaine where they received the advices of Yovan Markovitch, Guillaume Sutre (Quatuor Ysaÿe), Noémie Bialobroda (Aviv Quartet), Thomas Hoppe (ATOS Trio); as well as with Eugene Drucker (Emerson Quartet) during a ProQuartet masterclass.
In 2024, they were awarded 3rd prize at the 19th Lyon International Chamber Music Competition (CIMCL) and 1st prize at the 37th FNAPEC European Chamber Ensemble Competition.
