Junho Hwang

South Korean tenor Junho Hwang completed his vocal studies at Seoul National University and is currently pursuing a master's degree at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. He has won several international singing competitions, including first prize at the International Singing Competition for Italian Opera, third prize at the Mirjam Helin Competition, and special prizes from Alessandro Ariosi, Ariane Hollaender-Calix, and Aydın Uştuk.
In his home country of South Korea, he won first prize at the KBS KEPCO Music Competition in 2021, third prize at the Suri Music Competition in 2021, the Excellence Prize at the Daegu Music Competition in 2020, and third prize at the Korean Voice Concours in the same year.
Since December 2024, Junho Hwang has been a member of the International Opera Studio of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden and has already appeared as Goro (Madama Butterfly) and Trojan (Idomeneo). Past roles also include Benvolio in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette.
