Ivan Sendetsky was born in 1996 in St Petersburg. He began playing the piano at the age of three. In 2003 he entered the Secondary Special Music School of the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory, where he studied the piano and cello (graduated in 2014). In 2009 he had an internship at Altensteiger Sommermusik (Germany).
He entered the St Petersburg Conservatory (classes of Anatoly Nikitin and Sergei Roldugin) in 2014. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin (class of Troels Svane) in 2017. Currently is a student of New England Conservatory (NEC) in Boston (class of Laurence Lesser).
Prize-winner of various music competitions, including the Aram Khachaturian International Competition (Yerevan, 2022, 3rd prize), the Schoenfeld International String Competition (Harbin, 2023, 3rd prize), the International Competition for Young Musicians (Tallinn, 2007; 1st prize), the Gartow Stiftung Russian-German Competition (St Petersburg, 2007; 3rd prize), the New Names International Competition (Moscow, 2009; 3rd prize), the Knushevitsky International Cello Competition (Saratov, 2012 and 2014; 1st prize), the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians (Montreux/Vevey, Switzerland, 2012; 5th prize), the International Cello Competition Antonio Janigro (Zagreb, 2016; 3rd prize) and the All-Russian Music Competition (Moscow, 2018; 1st prize).
Grant-recipient of the Gartow Stiftung (2007), the New Names Foundation (2009). Winner of the Yuri Temirkanov Prize (2013).
