Ethan Nylander

American flutist Ethan Nylander currently holds the assistant principal flute position with the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen in Germany. A Miyazawa Emerging Artist and Fulbright Alumnus, he has won prizes in 20+ competitions in the US and abroad, including, most recently, 3rd prize at the Carl Nielsen International Music Competition in 2026, and 1st prize at the Dutch International Flute Competition in 2025. His achievements have taken him to the Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot and Spotify- his debut album Métamorphose: Contemporary Solo Works for Low Flute, was released in June 2023. His primary teachers include Nina Assimakopoulos, Mihi Kim, and currently Mario Caroli at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.
