Duo Noh & Pfahler

Originating from a family of musicians the young soprano Annemarie Pfahler took intensive violin lessons right from the very beginning - leading her lastly to taking lessons from Prof. Friedemann Wetzel. Alongside to this she started taking vocal lessons in her youth and successfully partook as singer within the category ‚Old music‘ of the competition ‚Jugend musiziert‘ on regional-, country- and national level in 2016. Besides, she won the first price of the so called ‚Händelwettbewerb‘ in Karlsruhe 2016, likewise in the category of ‚Old music‘. After accomplishing her A-Levels she continued her education at the vocational school for music in Dinkelsbühl being a student of Magdalene Kautter (violin) and Julia Küsswetter (vocals). Since 2018 she is studying concerto- and opera singing at the HfMDK Frankfurt being a student of Prof. Thilo Dahlmann. Annemarie Pfahler partook several master classes within the Bach-academy Stuttgart with Emma Kirkby, Lothar Odinius and Hans-Christoph Rademann as well as within the ‚Oberstdorfer summer of music‘. Still being at the beginning of her career singing as a soloist and ensemble-singer at numerous concerts she already has given very promising performances and therefore was able to attract attention. Next to her official membership in the chambre choir of Stuttgart (Frieder Bernius) as well as in the ensemble 1684 (Gregor Meyer) or the Walkenried Consort Annemarie Pfahler already sung concertos as soloist in the cathedral of Limburg, Wetzlar and Speyer and also in the Church of Catherine and the Church of Nicolai in Frankfurt. Furthermore she is scholarship holder of the ‚Bach-Concertos Frankfurt e.V.’.

Suryeon Noh was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1993. She began her musical career by joining a children’s choir at the age of 9. However, she was drawn to the piano and began serious piano studies at the age of 15. She attended Gyeonggi Arts High School and graduated with a bachelor of music degree from Kyung-Hee University.She also acquired a music education and hosted a number of concerts in Korea, Japan, and China while in pursuit of her studies in university. From year 2016, she has continued her studies in Germany at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden hoping to learn the piano in the country that is the home of many eminent composers and pianists. She is currently studying Meisterklasse with Winfried Apel at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden and was supported by a Saxon State Scholarship in year 2019. In 2021, she was supported by Carl Bechstein Stiftung.

“The diverse musical life in Germany bestows me with musical ideas and touches my soul.”, says Suryeon Noh. She claims to have become a regular concert goer in her new home in Dresden. 

She has received a number of artistic impulses from the master classes that she has taken with Prof. Arnulf von Arnim, Felix Gottlieb, Gerald Fauth, Elena Margolina-Hait, Pavel Gililov, Stefan Mendl, and Brigitte Meyer. In 2018, the pianist made her debut with the Central Saxon Philharmonic and was again invited as a soloist two years in a row.She has performed since 2019 at the Open Air Festival des Palais Sommers Dresden in the series „Junge Meister der Klassik“ in Japanese Palace. Her benefit concert in the Coselpalais, played without an audience due to Corona, was published on YouTube in 2020.Other concerts were the Festsaal of Landesärztekammer, Carl Maria von Weber Museum, Werkstättengalerie of Deutschen Werkstätten Hellerau, Schloss Albrechtsberg, Vereinshaus in Kreischa and Hochschule für Musik Dresden.
