Carla Usberti, viola, born in 2001 in Landshut, began studying piano at the age of three and violin at five. She later switched to the viola and was accepted as a junior student at the University of Music and Theatre Munich, studying with Roland Glassl. Since 2019, she has been pursuing her bachelor’s degree with Roland Glassl.

She has received numerous first prizes at the national level of the Jugend musiziert competition, both for viola and piano, as well as several special awards, including a solo viola performance with the Darmstadt Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she won second prize at the International Carl Filtsch Piano Competition in Sibiu, Romania.

Carla gained her first orchestral experience with the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra and the vbw Festival Orchestra, and since 2020 she has been a member of the German National Youth Orchestra (Junge Deutsche Philharmonie). In 2021, she won third prize at the 1st International Hindemith Viola Competition in Munich.

She has received scholarships from the Hildegard-Schmalzl Foundation in Regensburg, the Munich Music Association, and the German Foundation for Musical Life (Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben). Since the 2022/23 season, Carla has been a scholarship holder of the Villa Musica State Foundation of Rhineland-Palatinate.

She has received important musical influences through masterclasses with, among others, Tabea Zimmermann, Atar Arad, Hariolf Schlichtig, Lars Anders Tomter, and the Quatuor Ébène.

From 2021 to 2023, she was an academy member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, where she gained valuable orchestral and chamber music experience.
