Kang Tae Kim was born in 1997 and began playing the piano at six.He attended the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts at the age of 12 and studied under the guidance of Professor Yoon-Ju Oh from 2009 to 2014. He has been a student of Professor Hee-Sung Joo since 2016 at the College of Music, Seoul National University. He made his performing debut at age 11 in recital with the Wonju Philharmonic Orchestra and he had KUMHO Prodigy Concert at the age of 12.
In 2019 he won the 3rd Prize at the Tongyeong - ISANG YUN Competition (WFIMC), and in 2018 He won 2nd Prize, Takamatsu International Piano Competition (WFIMC). Also, He won "Giovanni Turcotti" Special Prize, Valsesia Musica International Competition, 1st Prize, BIMFA (Beijing International Music Festival & Academy) Concerto Competition,1st Prize, Osaka International Music Competition. He is a prizewinner in the most prestigious domestic competitions. In 2019 he won the 1st Prize at the KBS-KEPCO Music Competition, Grand Prix, Suri Music Concours,2016 1st Prize, Busan Music Competition, 2nd prize at the Takamatsu International Piano Competition in 2018, 3rd prize at the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht in 2026.
