Roma - Luciano Berio International Composition Competition

To promote the production, diffusion and reception of Contemporary Art Music.

For the organization of the present Competition the Santa Cecilia National Academy leads a partnership that reunites the 4 major Italian Symphonic Orchestras, namely, its own, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the RAI National Symphonic Orchestra.

The Winning composer will receive a commission to write a work for large symphonic orchestra that will be performed by all the partner orchestras and will be published by Universal Edition (UE). The Winner will receive a prize of Eur 20,000.

The piece will be premiered in Rome in the subscriprion concerts of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra scheduled on the 11, 12 and 13 March 2021, under the baton of Sir Antonio Pappano.

The Competition is organized in collaboration with the "Centro Studi Luciano Berio" and it is named after Luciano Berio who was, in the last years of his life, esteemed President of the Santa Cecilia Academy.
