Ljubljana - Ljubljana Festival International Piano Competition

Held annually throughout the summer at some of the city's most iconic venues, including the Križanke Open-Air Theatre, Cankarjev dom, Congress Square, and other historic locations, the festival offers a rich and diverse programme encompassing opera, ballet, symphonic and chamber concerts, theatre productions, jazz performances, musicals, contemporary dance, film screenings, and visual arts exhibitions. Each season features internationally renowned orchestras, conductors, soloists, theatre companies, and dance ensembles, while also providing a prominent platform for Slovenia's leading artists and emerging talent.

In addition to its flagship summer festival, Festival Ljubljana maintains an extensive year-round programme. Its activities include the Slovenian Music Days, dedicated to the promotion of Slovenian contemporary music; the Winter Festival; the International Fine Arts Colony; international masterclasses led by distinguished musicians; educational initiatives for young artists; and a wide range of cultural and interdisciplinary projects that foster artistic excellence, international collaboration, and cultural exchange.

Festival Ljubljana is also committed to nurturing the next generation of performers through competitions, educational programmes, and professional development opportunities. One of its key initiatives is the International Piano Competition Festival Ljubljana, which brings together outstanding young pianists from around the world. The competition provides participants with the opportunity to perform before an internationally renowned jury, gain valuable concert experience, and compete for prestigious prizes and career opportunities. The next edition of the piano competition will take place in 2029, while the next music competition coming in 2028, featuring brass instruments.
