Zhiyu Sandy Xu

Trained in Sydney with Conall McClure, Sandy studied at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne with Jean-Louis Capezzali and Vincent Gay-Balmaz, where he completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He is currently doing postgraduate studies at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy School of Music in Leipzig with Nick Deutsch. Winner of the ADRS Competition in Australia in 2016, 2nd Prize at the Riddes Competition in 2015, he regularly performs with various ensembles throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He is currently co-soloist with the Orchestra Victoria in Melbourne.
