Varvara Vasylieva (2003) is a Ukrainian violinist. Since September 2022 she has been studying under the guidance of Prof. Barbara Doll at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, FHNW.

Varvara is a laureate of several competitions, including the 2nd prize at the International Max Rostal Competition for violin and viola Ysaÿe International Music Competition in Liège, Belgium (2019, 1st Prize), the Oleksiy Gorokhov International Competition-Festival (2022, 1st Prize), and the Odesa International Violin Competition (2018, 3rd Prize), among others.

She has actively participated in numerous festivals and academies, such as the Geneva International String Academy (2024), Beethovenfest Bonn (2022), Rihener Serenaden (2023), Im Spiegel in St. Gallen (2023), Fiskars Summer Festival, Wolfegg Wintermusik. She has taken part in masterclasses by Leonidas Kavakos, Boris Garlitsky, Miriam Fried, Boris Kushnir and Robert Levin.

Varvara has had the privilege of performing chamber music with inspiring musicians such as Valentin Erben, Claudio Martinez Mehner, Rafael Rosenfeld, Winfried Rademacher, and Silvia Simionescu.
Since 2023 she’s a founding member of the Arda String Quartet, based in Basel.

Throughout her studies, she has frequently performed as a soloist both in Ukraine and internationally. She played in a series of charity concerts with the Mriya Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonie, "Die Glocke" in Bremen, and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. In October 2023, she performed with the Basel Sinfonieorchester in the opening concert of the Hochschule für Musik Basel.
