Sang-min Ryu(b.2000) was born in South Korea. In 2017, he started learning composition under the guidance of Young-bin Jung. From 2019 to 2024, he earned bachelor’s degrees cum laude in Composition, Philosophy, and Mathematics, with a minor in Physics, at Hanyang University, where he studied composition under Myung-hoon Park and Ji-hyang Kim. He won third prize in the composition category at the 78th Concours de Genève in 2024. From 2025, he will study at Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf with José María Sánchez-Verdú.
Drawing inspiration from philosophy—the art of creating concepts—his compositions primarily explore philosophical themes, incorporating ideas from philosophers such as Spinoza, Hegel, Bergson, and Deleuze.
