Austrian pianist Martin Nöbauer performs on both modern and historical instruments. His success as a finalist in the 2nd International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments 2023 in Warsaw resulted in a CD release by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute of his competition performances. He was awarded the 1st prize at the Classic on Danube International Piano Competition and at the Hildegard Maschmann Foundation Piano Competition held at University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where he was selected among European concert pianists studying at music universities in Austria. He also received various prizes at the International Competition Musica Antiqua Brugge, the Piano Academy Eppan, the Mozarteum International Summer Academy Competition which resulted in a performance at the Salzburg Festival, the Musica Juventutis Audition, and the International Chamber Music Competition Fortepiano Plus Schloss Kremsegg (1st Prize). 

He has performed as a piano duo with Elisabeth Leonskaja at the Stars and Rising Stars Festival in Munich and most recently in the Main Hall of the Brucknerhaus Linz. Recently, he has appeared at festivals such as the Kulturkreis Deutschlandsberg (Ö1 Radio Broadcast), St. Florianer Brucknertage, Festival Haydnregion Niederösterreich, Musiktage Mondsee as well as VIP Classical at Dubai Opera. He appears regularly as a chamber music partner in duos with violinist Yuki Serino and cellist Annabel Hauk. This current season he will release his CD “Chanter avec les doigts” featuring piano works by Frédéric Chopin which will appear on the Gramola label. Also this season he will make his debut at the International Music Festival “Chopin and his Europe” in Warsaw. 

Martin Nöbauer began his piano studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and currently studies with Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In addition, he received further artistic training from Boris Petrushansky at the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola, and studied fortepiano with Wolfgang Brunner at Mozarteum University and with Edoardo Torbianelli at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He has received scholarships from the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Theo and Petra Lieven Piano Foundation as well as the Music Academy in Liechtenstein, where he regularly takes part of the intensive weeks as a student of the Imperial Program.
