Born in Florence, Italy, Italian and American pianist Giulia Contaldo completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees with highest honors and special mention in piano under Giovanna Prestia at Florence' s “Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory. Since 2012, Giulia studied at Imola International Piano Academy with Jin Ju where she completed her final artist diploma in 2019. From September 2019 was offered a scholarship for the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music with Graham Scott and Dina Parakhina thanks to the generous support of the Helen Mackaness Award, graduating with distinction. For 2021/2022 she has been accepted on the highly selective International Artist Diploma Course of the RNCM, which will include a solo debut with the BBC Philharmonic in Manchester.
Having a strong passion for chamber music, together with her violinist Sara Pastine she has also been a klavierkammermusik postgraduate student at the Universität für Musik und darstellende kunst Wien where she studied with Johannes Meissl, Peter Schuhmayer (Artis Quartet), Stefan Mendl (Wiener Klavier Trio).Giulia has received numerous prizes, including top first prizes at the 28th J.S. Bach Italian National Competition (S.Levante), first prize at the Gradus ad Musicum Certamen Competition, the National Competition “Città di Bardolino”, the Chianti International Music Competition, the Competition “Citta di Piove di Sacco”, first prize at the "Zuccotti International Piano Competition", the 15th International Maria Giubilei Piano Competition with an award to the Mozarteum Sommerakademie with Aquiles Delle Vigne, prizes at the International Competition „Prémio Internacional de Piano Figueira da Foz“ (Portugal), at "Massarosa International Piano Competition". She has recently won the Concerto Competition, the Piano Duo Prize of the RNCM and was awarded the Gold Medal of the RNCM. Giulia was also one of the 62 pianists chosen to participate in the first round of the Leeds International Piano Competition in April 2021.
